"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9
The images above depict only half of the nourishing produce shared at the first Desert Cross Borderlands Produce Rescue distribution on our Tempe campus. All 30,000+ pounds of this produce we distributed in 2.5 hours would have gone to the landfill instead of feeding hungry people, if not for this rescue program. This beautiful produce represents hope for hundreds of people who lined up for one whole mile on McClintock Drive to Elliot Road, as they waited for their ticket to pick up their produce. Some of the people were picking up the produce to feed the homeless. Some of the people came to share cash for people who couldn’t afford a box. Some of the people came to share with their neighbors. But most of the people came to feed their families in these difficult days.
The magnitude of this mission we are operating at Desert Cross is momentous in bringing a harvest of hope to our community as a neighborhood church. This Thanksgiving as we celebrate all that we are thankful for with family and friends, we can give thanks to God for bringing us this new ministry, be thankful for all who support it, and trust that a tangible difference for good is being shared. Where do you see God sharing a harvest of hope in your life lately?
Thanks be to God!
