Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.Romans 12:9-13

Friends,

In times such as these, God’s word instructing us to share with the Lord’s people who are in need come to the forefront. These times of war in Ukraine and crisis in Eastern Europe call for us to set aside any differences that divide us to unite in faith to help those in need. Here are some ways we can put love in action:

  • Watch this short video shared by the Grand Canyon Synod from missionary pastors in Hungary who are on the frontlines of this crisis. Video link
  • Read the ELCA Europe Desk letter about work on the ground with companion synods in Europe. Letter link
  • Donate to Lutheran Disaster Response to provide humanitarian aid to the crisis in Eastern Europe: Lutheran Disaster Response

At Desert Cross, our hunger jars in worship each week will be designated to Lutheran Disaster Response. Let us pray without ceasing for peace in our hearts, churches, communities, and in all countries experiencing war around the globe. May we unite with Christ in the center as we are devoted in love serving the Lord.

In Christ, Pastor Andrea
