Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way;

say to those with fearful hearts, Be strong, do not fear… Isaiah 35:3-4

Remember this? It’s our Desert Cross 2021 WordCloud. How have these words been shaping your days so far? These are beautiful guiding words. One small but mighty word that stands out to me is Steady.

Do you see it? This is a word that we can apply to ourselves and to God. God is a steady source of faith, hope, and love. We can ask God to steady us in our fears. Sometimes it feels like the world has given way beneath us, yet Christ is our steady rock on which we stand. I encourage you to read the entire passage of Isaiah 35 which brings comfort in these ongoing days of pandemic.

The number of COVID cases are lower and millions of vaccinations have been given. Many are anxious for things to go back to “normal.” Many are anxious to remove their masks, get close to people, to sing, and to worship together like before. Yet, we must remain steady in our plan to keep the congregation safe and healthy by following CDC guidelines. When safety precautions are no longer needed, they will be removed. Even if vaccinated, when we are in public in larger groups, we need to be masked and distanced. Patience is key.

  • Beginning Sunday, May 2nd, we will offer 3 in-person worship services at Desert Cross. A 4th option of live stream worship remains. Tempe will worship at 9am with live stream and 10:30am. Gilbert will continue to worship at 9am. You are encouraged to worship at either site.
  • Watch for a video coming soon explaining our intentional reopening plan and why Desert Cross is following CDC protocols in the name of love, i.e., masking, social distancing, not singing, etc.

We have made and will continue to make every effort to go above and beyond to make our worship services safe, accessible, and inclusive in every way. We must remain steady in faith, hope, and love! Thank you for your support in helping us to achieve these goals.

Steady, Pastor Andrea
