“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” Luke 10:27

As we approach the 4th of July holiday, celebrating freedom is in the air. There are many uses of freedom. We have a specific Christian freedom: to love our neighbors as ourselves. This cardstock print resides on my refrigerator as a daily reminder of the love command of Jesus while I dispense the water for my treasured morning coffee. It came from a specialty coffee shop which represents the inclusive message of welcome to the stranger and bringing people together which happens to be Jesus’ message in scripture: i.e., … I was a stranger and you invited me in; do not forget to provide hospitality to strangers … Our freedom in Christ is to love and to serve not to judge in the name of scripture. We use our freedom to build up our neighbors, to do no harm, to be compassionate and forgiving. Enjoy the 4th holiday and celebrate your Christian freedom with sparkles of generosity and flares of love!
